General Counselling and Psychotherapy

“To be told after my assessment that I would be able to have up to a year’s counselling was amazing”.

Appointment Times

“The timing of the sessions was conducive to family life”.

We offer counselling both during and outside of normal business hours to accommodate the varied schedules and demands on people’s lives.  Counselling takes place on the hour Monday to Friday from 8.00am through to the last appointment at 8.00pm.

What to expect

Whatever issues that you may bring to counselling, we aim to help you gain more ease within yourself and to feel more in control of your life; with greater resilience to cope with the things that challenge you the most, or which you cannot change.

Counsellors are trained to listen attentively and to facilitate this process in a supportive way.  It is an 'active' process with you and your counsellor working on your issues together.  There will be opportunities to review how things are going along the way.

Your counsellor will not be looking to give you direct advice, since the aim is to enabling you to draw on your own resources.

Attending Counselling

Taking up counselling involves a commitment to attend the sessions on a weekly basis.  Counselling is found to be most successful when attendance is regular and the relationship between you and your counsellor is able to be built.

Given the potential to work over a longer period, there will inevitably be some weeks when either you or your counsellor are away on holiday or need to be away for other extenuating reasons.  This aside, you need to be able to commit to coming regularly on the day and time agreed, for the duration of your counselling at EACS.

Payment for Counselling Sessions

“Very glad this service was available locally when I needed it, and at an affordable level”.

EACS relies greatly on contributions, donations and other forms of funding in order to carry out its work.

For counselling sessions, we ask for a weekly contribution based on a sliding scale, which you can discuss with your assessor at your initial assessment.  The guideline for this is £1 for every £1000 of income.

There is a concession rate of £5.00 for those relying solely on benefits (minimum £12 in the evening).
