Assessment Service for General Counselling and Psychotherapy

“When I first made contact with EACS I was a little anxious, not knowing what to expect.  My first point of contact was Martine and Simona who both instantly helped me to feel at ease, and the overall environment I found very calming”.

Referral to Assessment Service

The first step would be to telephone us to enquire about booking an assessment.  We will run through some initial questions with a view to setting up an assessment appointment.  Our assessments take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.

We are predominantly a self-referral service and priority is given to Ealing Borough residents, as we are part-funded by Ealing Council and Ealing Borough Based Partnership.  If there is sufficient capacity, we will also see people living in neighbouring boroughs bordering the London Borough of Ealing.

For anyone currently, or who has recently been under the care of the Ealing Mental Health Integrate Network Teams (MINT), we first of all ask for a written referral from your psychiatrist / other mental health professional.

MINT REFERRER: Download our referral guidelines.

Payment for the Assessment

For the initial assessment: we ask for a payment of £20.00.
There is a concession rate of £10 for those who rely solely on benefits.

At the Assessment

You will meet with one of our assessors (a senior practitioner) to talk through what is troubling you.  Your assessor will ask you about other aspects of your life to try and get a fuller picture of your circumstances; previous use of talking therapy / mental health services; and significant past events and relationships.

It is natural for people to feel a little daunted about attending an assessment and opening up about their life to another person, sometimes for the first time.  Do let your assessor know if you are feeling anxious or have any questions or concerns.

If the assessor feels that EACS can offer you something appropriate for your needs, s/he will look to match you with one of our counsellors as soon as possible.

For those who would be better supported elsewhere, our assessors will offer some suggestions for signposting elsewhere, or may make a written referral on your behalf if appropriate.

CALL US ON: 020 8998 3361 to enquire about booking.
