Counselling offers a safe place for people to talk, in confidence, about personal problems of many kinds. The first step would be to telephone us to book an initial assessment, where you would have the chance to talk with one of our assessors about any issue that is troubling you.
If the assessor (a senior practitioner) feels that EACS can offer you something appropriate to your needs, s/he will look to match you with a counsellor who you would then meet with once a week at a time agreed by you and the counsellor.
Please note that as we are a Self Referral service, you would need to contact us yourself to book an initial assessment, even if you heard about us through your GP.
Our initial assessments take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and there is generally a waiting period of 4 – 6 weeks, although this can be earlier if there is a cancellation.
If you take up the offer of individual counselling following the initial assessment, you then wait to be placed with one of our counsellors who you would meet with once a week and at the same time each week. Appointments for counselling are offered Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 8.00pm and are 50 minutes long. Some counsellors may work on a Saturday morning.
Ealing Abbey Counselling Service is a registered charity and relies on contributions, donations and other forms of funding in order to carry out its work.
For the initial assessment, we ask for a contribution of £20.00, (£10.00 for those who rely solely on benefits as their source of income). Please allow up to one and a half hours for the assessment.
For counselling sessions, we ask for a weekly contribution based on a sliding scale which you can discuss with the assessor at your initial assessment.
We provide rooms on our premises at 1A Montpelier Avenue, Ealing, W5 2XP. We are located on the 1st and 2nd floors and entry is at the side of the building via a fire escape staircase. There is parking on the road but no off street parking. A small number of counsellors work from their own consulting rooms in the area.
To book an appointment and for further information, please telephone our office on 020 8998 3361. Our office hours are Monday to Wednesday 9.00am to 1.30pm
and Thursday 9.00am to 12 noon. You can leave a message outside
of these times.
Please note that the office is closed during the month of August and over the Christmas and Easter school holidays although counselling continues during this period.
